If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.

I came across this footage and liked it.  You might enjoy seeing Ms. McLain talk about her research and how she went about making fiction of non-fiction.  I enjoyed it even though I want to be her.

  1. Hello Christine
I did enjoy the Paris Wife infact I read it twice . Paula opened up my fascination with Ernest Hemingway.
I think she did a great job writing this book you could imagine Hadley and Ernest in their basic appartment. Ernest people watching in the cafes of Paris. I did not want the story to end !!! Thank you for your post. 🇫🇷

    1. Hi Pamela! I too liked The Paris Wife as Hadley is my favorite. And it was nice to see it from her point of view. I then listened to some tapes made of conversations with Hadley and it was lovely to hear her voice. I do believe she loved Hemingway to the end even though she was quite happy in her second marriage to Paul Mowrer. So great to hear from you, Pamela!! have a great Spring! Warmest wishes, Christine

  2. Thank you Christine
For your reply I too like Hadley and wonder where you heard the tapes I wonder if I can find her on you tube. I feel that Ernest had a real soul mate in her she had three grand daughters as you know I briefly met Margot in Montreal in the 70’s . I was hired with another model to promote her perfume Babe so I really like this little conection with Hadley I was very sad that her life came to an end it must have been a blow to Hadley.
    All the best .

    1. http://www.thehemingwayproject.com/2018/08/14/an-evening-with-hadley/ Pamela: Alice Hunt Sokoloff did many tapes of discussions with Hadley in preparation for a book about her. The Hemingway Project has them, I believe. May i suggest trying the foregoing link. Other readers may know of other places to listed. Yes, You Tube may have some. In one she described her last in person meeting with Hem in Montana. She and Jack and Paul, her husband, were there fishing. Hemingway was at the Norquist Ranch and knew threw Jack that they were there. It was Sept 1 1939, the day Poland was invaded. She describes the day and feeling beautifully. I hope you find these, Pamela. BEST! Christine
